ABOUT US

Kramer Tackle was founded in the winter of 2000 by Steve kramer. He comes from a long line of fisherman and has been succesfully steelhead, salmon, and bass fishing since age 4.His father taught him the fundamentals of reading water and how to properly present lures {mostly hardware}to maximize success. At an early age Steve realized how addicting fishing really was,he would go steelhead fishing before work, often bringing  limits of steelies to work at 7:45am,then after work go catch bass till dark and start over the next day,the beginning of a vicious cycle .

In 1998 Steve hooked a mid 20lb steelhead on a jig, after a wonderful fight the fish came un-pinned. After close examination he realized that the hook had been straightened,he was pissed! He went home that night and decided to start making his own jigs, ones he knew would hold up to the rigors of big native steelhead and salmon. A couple of weeks went by while he researched hooks and materials, he found Gamakatsu heavy wires to be the strongest in his opinion, so he went to work tinkering with jigs.

He tried out his first batch with a buddy who was throwing eggs and shrimp, his partner made fun of the "wussy" jig fisherman and refused to use them. By the end of the day it was 8 to 1 in favor of the jigs. He kept out fishing his friends and word got out about these jigs, people would call and ask to buy some saying a friend of a friend told him about them etc. Steve kept tinkering with ideas, and one night at his kitchen table he looked at a bass jig and got the idea to put rubber legs on a steelhead jig. He took it out to test it the next day and caught 5 steelies to his friends 0. The jig was peach and white with 8 crazy white legs, they thought it looked like a live shrimp in the water, so his friend said "anyone who catches steelies like that is a pimp"so they called it the PIMP SHRIMP, the name stuck and the rest is history. With over 20 popular styles of jigs he's always working on new designs .In April of 2005 he launched his web site to provide easy access to the the popular KRAMER JIGS
